About BlueBird Photography

Blue Bird Photography is located in Haverfordwest, the county town of idyllic Pembrokeshire in South West Wales.

Sue

The person behind BlueBird is Sue - born and grown up in Germany, she moved to Pembrokeshire in December 2004 with her two children Phillip and Johanna and her beloved dog Mika.

Her interest in Photography began back in Germany in a photographic after school club in school. At first she took snapshots of her surroundings, her pets and of people. Her very first camera, an Agfamatic Pocket, was soon outgrown and Sue moved on to her father's SLR, a Minolta 9000.

"After our move to Pembrokeshire, I was soon captured by the beautiful landscape and sea, the impressive mountains and scenery around my new home. I got seriously involved in photography and did an evening course at the local college with a degree in 2005/2006".

Since then she fulfilled herself a dream and got her first professional digital SLR. Soon, Sue's knowledge and experience in photography grew to a high standard. Soon, a full frame digital SLR followed together with more dedicated lenses and studio equipment which can be transported easily to different locations.

Sue invested a lot of her free time into learning and developing her style and technique as well as the digital enhancement of photographs in her digital darkroom. Special hardware and software was needed to bring out the best of her captures and more time was invested in learning again.

In time Sue's style of photography became cleary defined. She doesn't like the traditional style and stiffly posed photographs with false smiles.

Sue's style is vibrant and she likes to show life how it really is. Capturing the real moments to preserve them as the memories for tomorrow and that in an unobtrusive way with a manner of observation instead of direction.

Sue has now specialised in children and family portraiture as well as wedding reportages but she does of course all other type of photography too.

Her very secret passion is still to capture dogs as it was her very own Mika who taught and inspired her during his lifetime.

When you are browsing through Sue's portfolio, you will see many photographs of her other dogs Ellie, the Boxer and her little friend Maximus the Dachshound.

These two pals accompany Sue on her photographic outings just like her beloved dog Mika used to do before he fell ill with bone cancer in 2005.

When Sue's Mika sadly died in may 2007, Sue was devasted and heartbroken but she took his legacy and brought her photography to the next level and finally she decided to offer her services to customers as BlueBird Photography.
