Events around Pembrokeshire

Pembrokeshire is a great place to visit various events all year round.

If you look out, there is something interesting to go to nearly every weekend.

Sometimes, weather and time permitting, I am fortunate to go and capture people,

places and a great athmosphere. In this gallery I like to showcase the events I have visited recently.

» Riverfestival 2009

Every year the mayor of the town of Haverfordwest (this year mayor Councillor Jim Campbell) will host the civic tradition of the beating of the bounds. The annual festival celebrates the traditions of the old trading port of Haverfordwest, with a waterborne procession to inspect the town boundaries and the fishing rights as the Admiral of the port. read more »»»


» 20 years Twinning of Towns

For the 20th Anniversary of the twinning of Oberkirch and Haverfordwest, visitors from Germany came to visit and celebrate the festive occasion. The people ejoyed music and dance together - the language which don't need any words to be understood. Here are some impressions from the spit roasting evening. read more »»»


» Homecoming of the 237 Squadron

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Haverfordwest again on the 14th of may to welcome back troops from the 237 Squadron of the 14th Signal Regiment which is based at Cawdor Barracks in Brawdy, in a gesture their squadron commander described as “outstanding”. read more »»»


» Boxing Day Hunt in Haverfordwest

The last event I visited in 2007 was the Boxing Day Hunt in Haverfordwest. The weather was good and the rain held out. The crowd which lined the streets was estimated at a good 2000 and there were no anti hunt demonstraters present this year. Since the law changed in 2005, the killing of foxes by the dogs is not allowed anymore and the hunt follows a scented trail instead. read more »»»

» Spaetzle Workshop

During the german visit for the 20th anniversary of the twinning of Oberkirch and Haverfordwest, the Oberbürgermeister's wife Dr. Andrea Braun held a Spätzle workshop for the Haverfordwest women which was much apreciated. Even for me as a German, this was something interesting and fun to watch. The result was delicious too - a lovely easy but tasty and filling lunch. read more »»»


» Pembrokeshire County Show

This Show is the largest 3-day agricultural Show in Wales. With in excess of 96,000 people in attendance in 2007, the Show is now recognised as one the most impressive outdoor rural events. It is complimented by having use of the land normally occupied by Haverfordwest Airport that provides the Show with a single level accessible site for all attending. read more »»»


» Pembrokeshire Show Dogs
